The National Employment Standards (NES) is a comprehensive safety net of minimum employment conditions which, together with any applicable Modern Award, establish the minimum terms and conditions of employment for most employees in Australia - a safety net of minimum enforceable protections.. The NES prescribe such conditions as maximum weekly hours of work, annual leave, parental leave, personal/carers leave, long service leave, notice of termination and redundancy pay etc.
