Course Description
Course Aim
Provides the students with the installation skills and regulatory knowledge required to work under the restricted registration.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Terminate metallic cable
- Install cabling from socket to socket within a customer premises
- Install underground and aerial cable in accordance with regulations
- Describe the conditions of the Restricted Cabling Registration
- Use ACA /ACIF Technical Standards TS008 and TS009
- Describe the features of the telephone system as they apply to Cabling Provider Rules (Restricted) work.
- Outline the characteristics of metallic communications cable types
- Outline the application of metallic cable types in relation to their operating system
- Identify types of cable dispensers and make the correct use of the dispenser
- Identify, explain and use various hauling mechanism
- Explain incorrect hauling methods that cause cable damage
- Outline the effects on information transmitted on damaged cables
- Interpret relevant plans to accurately verify cable locations in a customer premises
- Assemble and mount a range of distribution boxes and back-mounts
