Course Description
This course is for Telecommunications, Security, Data, Fire Protection and Audio visual installers to gain their Austel/ACA Licence or Open Registration.
Course Aim
To develop the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake work under the ACA Cabling Provider Rules. At the completion of this course you will be able to apply for your Open Registration (previously known as the Austel Licence, or ACA BCL, Base Cabling Licence)
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Terminate Cable
- Install cabling from socket to socket within a customer premises.
- Detail the ACA cabling license requirements.
- Describe the mandatory ACA technical standards.
- Be able to describe the composition of a Telephone Cabling System.
- Be able to install a system including all facility cabling and backbone cabling.
- Understand the features and facilities offered by Small Business Telephone Systems.
- Recognise the requirement of a Telecommunications Reference Conductor and understand the correct methods of equipotential bonding according to the ACA Technical Standards.
- Recognise and be able to update cabling records correctly.
- Be competent in testing Telephone Cabling Systems prior to hand over to the client.
Prerequisites
- Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)
- Electrical Principles 1 AC/DC Theory
- Application/uses of hand and power tools
All original proof needs to be provided on the day of the course to the assessor OR copies of evidence need to be mailed to Milcom Communications Pty Ltd, Unit 10, 64 Talavera Road, North Ryde, NSW, 2113 and need to be verified by a Justice of Peace - if not, qualifications will not be sent.
