Course Description
3 days/8 hours per day
This 3 day intensive training program has been specifically designed to provide contractors and their management with a clear understanding of the role of Occupational Health and Safety in today’s work environment and specifically in the electro technology industry.
As a key component of the NECA Safety Management System this course forms part of the suite of OHS related training that NECA provides.
The purpose of the OHS Managers/Supervisors Training is to provide you as the OHS Managers/Supervisor the following learning outcomes:
- Understand the legal framework for occupational health and safety
- Describe the roles and powers of the key workplace parties in the OHS Act
- 2004
- Understand the role of Managers/Supervisors, responsibilities and legal obligations
- Understand the role of the OHS Representatives (HSR) and their powers as
- per the OHS Act 2004 and OHS Regulations 2007 in the workplace
- Develop skills to participate in workplace consultation, issue resolution and negotiation.
- The role of Managers/Supervisors in the identification, assessment and control
- of hazards and risks in the workplace
- Introduction of the use of information on hazard identification on Manual
- Handling, Hazardous Substances/Dangerous Goods, Noise, Working at
- Heights and Plant Regulations
- Emergency prevention strategies and response procedures
- Incident Reporting
- Electrical Safety
- Cost of Incidents / Accidents
