EcoSmart Electricians
Course Description
20 hours
In 2007 the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) launched a new and innovative national training and accreditation program for contractors and electricians to meet the rapidly growing demand for energy efficient technology, products and installations. Branded as EcoSmart Electricians the program includes training, and an accreditation scheme enabling contractors to promote their knowledge and training as a unique selling point to their customers.
In the past two years, this national program has seen training rolled out in every state and territory in Australia and the program exported to New Zealand where it has seen extraordinary success.
The training component has been designed and developed by industry experts in their individual fields and comprises 4 mandatory modules.
- Energy Management
- Heating & Cooling, Solar
- Lighting
- Pumps, Fans & Motors
Course delivery is normally conducted over 4 separate sessions at times which have been designed to be less invasive of a contractors work times. However in some locations the course is run consecutively over one evening and then two consecutive days.
The training modules are now supported by further specific training which includes Install and Design of Grid Connect PV systems and the Working with the BCA and section J6 course which is designed to build on the knowledge gained in the lighting module.
The training course has been registered on the National Training and Information Service (NTIS) and successful participants are issued with certificate from an RTO and an EcoSmart Electricians certificate.
Following training contractors can apply for accreditation as an EcoSmart Electrician.
