Apprenticeship Pre-Selection

Apprenticeship Pre-Selection Assessment

NECA Victoria Apprenticeship Pre-Selection Assessment

For more than 25 years, NECA on behalf of the electrical contracting industry, has been conducting a pre-selection assessment for students interested in an electrical career.

The NECA Pre-Selection Assessment is administered and delivered by 370 degrees group.  370 degrees group is an Electrical Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and a Group Training Organisation (GTO) and they are well placed to run this assessment on behalf of NECA Victoria.

The assessment is highly regarded by employers in the industry as it provides one common assessment of all candidates from an industry standpoint.  A successful result in the assessment will enhance the entry prospects of those interested in electrical apprenticeships.  Applicants who successfully undertake the assessment can provide employers with evidence that the applicant has the potential to successfully complete an electrical apprenticeship, particularly the off-the-job or TAFE component of the apprenticeship.

The assessment is not difficult.  It is set at about year 10 level and an average level of English Comprehension and Mathematics should produce satisfactory results.

The results of the Apprenticeship Pre-Selection Assessment are circulated to prospective employers by NECA (provided of course that the person has given approval for this on their application form).

These prospective employers will make contact directly with those candidates they wish to interview.  There are no guarantees that you will be invited to an interview.

The Apprenticeship Pre-Selection Assessment is held in October each year.  Details are promoted to school careers advisors and advertised in industry magazines and via e-adverts and also in the Melbourne and major regional newspapers each September.

All registrations will be done on-line from the 370 degrees group website where candidates apply to sit the assessment.  The on-line form requires payment by credit card (VISA or Mastercard) of $55.00.  Alternatively, you may visit 370 degrees group at 1024 Lygon Street, Carlton North and pay by cash or EFTPOS.  You will receive a confirmation email with a receipt number for your reference.  A five day reminder will also be sent via email or sms prior to your attendance at the assessment.  NECA Victoria will send each candidate a letter with the result of the assessment once all the results have been collated -  letters will be sent the first week in November.  Click here to register on line.

A free sample test is available at the National Electrical Industry Skills Council (EE-OZ).  Click here.  Please note that the EE-OZ test requires you to use a scientific calculator - unfortunately the NECA Pre-Selection Assessment does not allow any calculators.
